In 2002 Acura released the CL Base to the car-buying market. The CL came in two configurations: Base and Type-S. The Base configuration is powered by the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 29 highway miles and 19 city. The CL competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Nissan.
