First Impressions of the Lexus GS300 for 2006

There's been a lot of talk about the Lexus GS300 for 2006. As a leading car in the sedan market the GS300 (and in this case specically the Base version) has maintained a high standard. The 4-door GS300 is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect car to help Lexus as a brand in general.
2006 Lexus GS300 Base Specs
The restyled GS300 Base is equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The GS300 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2006 GS300 is a SFI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.

The 2006 GS300 gets 29 miles/gallon on the highway and only 21 in the city. This is subpar for a sedan car.
In 2005 and 2006 the GS300 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Alabaster Metallic, Black Diamond, Black Garnet Pearl, Black Onyx, Blue Onyx Pearl, Blue Shale Mica, Classic Silver Metallic, Crystal White, Oasis Green Pearl, and Sonora Gold Pearl. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.
What We Think of the Lexus GS300
The 2006 model year was very successful for the Lexus GS300. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
