A Better 1995′s Model: The Acura Integra for 1996

When you think of the "Acura Integra" what will usually come to mind for Acura enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Integra has been one of the premier vehicles of the Acura line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 1996 model is no exception. The Acura Integra falls into the hatchback for the family category.

Stop and Go

The restyled Integra RS is equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Honda five-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1995 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Integra uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Integra is 178.10 inches long, 67.30 inches wide, and 53.90 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 103.10 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $19,650 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 3-door Hatchback.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1996 Integra is a PGM-FI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 13.20 gallons.

The Integra RS received a miles-per-gallon rating of 24 - 25 in-city driving and thirty one when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

The 1996 model year was very successful for the Acura Integra. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the RS version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
