Improving on 1998′s Model: The 1999 I30 Revisited

There have been several award-winning cars from Infiniti over the years, including the Infiniti I30 of 1999. There are two trim levels to the I30, including Base and T. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1998 the popular 3.0 liter has made this a popular choice for sedan buyers across the country.
Under the Hood
Standard equipment in the I30 for 1998 and 1999 includes the 3.0 liter engine by Nissan, weighing in at 6 cylinders and twenty four valves. A 5-speed Standard Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sedan arena.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The I30 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The I30 is 189.60 inches long, 69.70 inches wide, and 55.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 106.30 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.
The listed retail price in 1999 (MSRP) was $28,900, with a dealer invoice cost of $25,935. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 1999 I30 is a SFI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.
The I30 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty one in-city driving and twenty eight when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.
We Think...
The 1999 model year was telling year for the Infiniti I30. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.

Good article. At first I felt like I needed to refute your review of the Infiniti I30, but after further reflection I can see your point of view. Perhaps my personal I30 Base is an abberation. What is everyone else’s experiences?
