When you think of the "Infiniti M45" what will usually come to mind for Infiniti enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The M45 has been one of the premier vehicles of the Infiniti line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2003 model is no exception. The Infiniti M45 falls into the sedan for the family category.

2003 Infiniti M45 Base Specs

The M45 Base is equipped with a Nissan 4.5 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Jatco 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Infiniti.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The M45 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2003 M45 is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 21.10 gallons.

The M45 is 197.20 inches long, 69.70 inches wide, and 57.60 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 110.20 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

There is a 60,000 mile, 48 month warranty with this vehicle, including a powertrain warranty of 70,000/72 miles/months. This is normal for this price range.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $42,300 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $38,272. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

MPG Ratings

The M45 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

In 2002 and 2003 the M45 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Black Obsidian, Brilliant Silver, Diamond Graphite, Emerald Mist, Garnet Fire, Golden Sand, Ivory Pearl, and Willow Leather Interior. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

Parting Shots

There are several reasons why the Infiniti M45 Base sold well in 2003. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Infiniti, specifically a M45.
