A high point in the sport utility market is the Lexus LX470. In 2005 Lexus rolled out an upgraded version of the LX470 with one versions: Base. Sales for the LX470, especially the LX470 Base, were brisk during 2005 and 2006. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.

2005 Lexus LX470 Base Specs

The LX470 Base is equipped with a Toyota 4.7 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota 5-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Lexus.

The fuel system for the 2005 LX470 is a SFI system, running on gasoline . The fuel is regulated by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

The LX470 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $65,225 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $56,745. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sport Utility.

The standard warranty period for the LX470 is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the sport utility market.

Fuel Efficiency

The LX470 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of thirteen in-city driving and seventeen when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid truck, this was within normal parameters.
